POSITION TITLE:

Learning Spaces Facilitator

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION:

 

Classified: part-time (maximum of 12 hours per week, 40 weeks per year)
These are temporary variable-rate, grant-funded positions;
each position is funded through June 30, 2025.

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Director of Early Learning or Administrator

 

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

 

Providing appropriate learning experiences and language opportunities for three Learning Spaces in Marietta, while creating a safe and connecting environment for families with children from birth to five. This role will serve as a liaison to community organizations and institutions (libraries, churches, workplaces, etc.) as well as the broader community by distributing flyers, making presentations (formal and informal) about Learning Spaces in neighborhoods, and sharing experiences with funders. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Serve as a “Learning Spaces” link to the community.
  2. Understand child development from birth to age five.
  3. Provide a safe, well-managed environment that is conducive to learning.
  4. Demonstrate enthusiasm for working with children birth through age five.
  5. Create and implement lesson plans and gather materials to support lessons.
  6. Greet families, caregivers, and children warmly.
  7. Gather assessment data and additional information required for quarterly reports with the support of the data collection team.
  8. Understand and implement components of curriculum.
  9. Build positive relationships with families, caregivers, and children.
  10. Assist in Learning Spaces set-up.
  11. Take pictures during Learning Spaces’ sessions and upload to online system.
  12. Support group activities as assigned.
  13. Attend all professional development opportunities pertaining to Learning Spaces.            

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

High School Degree

 

Experience:

Early childhood education experience and experience with Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS)

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently sitting and standing. The employee may occasionally bend or twist at the neck and back while performing the duties of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading typewritten material. The employee may occasionally lift up to 45 pounds. 

 

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is at times loud. The employee is required to interact with the public and other staff. Work locations will be different each day.

  3. Knowledge of child growth and development
  4. Model and consistently use adequate self-control
  5. Demonstrate sound judgment
  6. Maintain appearance appropriate to the occasion in contacts with children, parents, staff, and community
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  8. Ability to plan, organize, and implement activities designed to accomplish social/emotional goals and language development goals.
  9. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
