       Behavior Interventionist

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION:

RESPONSIBLE TO:

       Principal

 

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

       Works with teachers and administrators to develop and provide behavioral support.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance and adheres to established work schedules.

 

2. Models direct social skills instruction for teachers and paraprofessionals who work with students experiencing emotional dysregulation.

 

3. Assists teachers in setting up appropriate physical classroom environments and develop effective classroom management procedures.

 

4. Assist teachers in completing Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans and Positive Behavior Support Plans for individual students with autism and emotional/behavioral disorders.

 

5. Assists teachers and students in developing self-monitoring techniques for students, such as behavior contracts and action plans for improvement.

 

6. Develops and assist teacher consultation on BIPs, and FBAs in home, and school settings.

 

7. Collaborates with agencies, families, schools and others as needed for the purpose of implementing the behavior intervention plan as a team.

 

8. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

 

9. Willingness to obtain additional training in areas related to job function, knowledge and/or abilities.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

 

 

• Bachelor’s degree required

 

• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate

 

Experience:

• At least three years successful teaching experience

 

Physical Demands:

 

• Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities, ability to lift a student up to a weight of 60 pounds without assistance, ability to perform a two-person lift for students over 60 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

 

• Normal working environment. Will be expected to work directly with students, families and school personnel to best meet students’ needs. Not assigned to a specific school, will work with all schools, on an as needed basis.

• Instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners.

 

• Understanding of applied behavior analysis methodologies.

 

• Understanding of functional behavioral assessment.

 

• Assessment and treatment of severe behavior.

 

• Ability to evaluate the evidence base underlying treatment and interventions.

 

• Student management and data collections.
