            HR Specialist – Middle and High Schools

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

 

Supports the Director of Employment Services in all facets of the employment, compensation and benefits arenas.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Consistently works as a team player and provides excellent customer service to all clients.
  2. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  3. Connects with new employees and works with building administrators to address employee onboarding needs and activity timelines.
  4. Generates and manages salary worksheet production and distribution and PAF notifications for new hires (with budget codes).
  5. Assembles/Maintains middle school and high school supplement lists; calculates, coordinates and processes salaries for supplements, extended day, extended year and other programs.
  6. Assists DSS representatives with SPED sub identification/engagement and placement as needed.
  7. Generate various system reports for the purpose of assuring accurate pay data, placement, separations, default placements and proper position control for schools and employees; evaluates and tracks creditable experience verification for salary purposes; processes salary changes for certification upgrades when notified and maintains and updates employee earned leave balances.
  8. Utilizes software to manage compensation functionality regarding new employees, making system changes to employees with compensation modifications and processes terminations of employees and any additional system requirements.
  9. Coordinates information sessions for new and existing employees to include benefits enrollment paperwork, retirement plans and benefit policies and practices; establishes and implements a process of accurate and timely notification of benefit enrollment changes and deducting appropriate premiums. Assists and advises employees, retirees, Superintendent and Board of Education Members with all insurance benefits regarding choices and changes in coverage.
  10. Manages insurance benefits for all employees including current, newly hired, resigned/terminated, on leave, long term leave and retirees; processes Qualifying Life Events and claims for employees/employee families applying for Long Term Disability and life insurance.
  11. Analyzes and processes leave documents for employees who request and are placed on leave including arrangement for direct payment of premiums. Reviews and processes benefit enrollment and/or change forms. Files with appropriate benefit providers.
  12. Responsible for CPI data retrieval and reporting.
  13. Handles processing of new central office employees; contact for Community School employment needs.
  14. Check State Health Proof Report daily and reconcile.
  15. Performs all other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

 

High School diploma required; post-secondary school/college preferred.

 

           

Experience:   

                       

Required       

 

HR job related training and/or experience preferred; public school and benefits experience preferred; Munis andTalentEd experience required.      

           

 

Preferred

 

SHRM preferred.
