Essential Functions:
Performing assigned tasks under the supervision and guidance of the principal and/or the classroom teachers.
Qualifications:
Education/Testing:
Qualified applicants must meet one of these criteria and provide documentation confirming:
- Completion of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of postsecondary coursework through an accredited school; or
- Completion of an Associate's Degree through an accredited school; or
- Have a passing score on the Parapro Assessment acceptable in Georgia
Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Assists teacher with programs of study: small group, large group, individualized and remedial/acceleration.
- Assists in preparing instructional materials.
- Performs clerical duties (word processing, copying, filing, etc.).
- Procures, sets-up, operates, and returns instructional equipment.
- Helps prepare and supervise work areas.
- Assists in the supervision of students on the playground, in the cafeteria, in the hallways, in the bathrooms and other pertinent areas.
- Assists in the supervision of students on field trips and other off-campus sites as needed.
- Acts as a substitute teacher in the absence of teacher or substitute teacher.
- Assists in cleaning and setting up of classroom.
- Assists with classroom management and data collection.
- Serves on school committees and assists with school functions.
- Assists in the supervision of ISS classrooms.
- Collects money and keeps accurate records as needed for various school functions.
- Assists with instructional technology as needed.
- Assists in preparation and collection of testing materials and serves as test proctor.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency procedures and drills.
- Assists in preparing for parent conferences.
- Assists students with special needs. If assigned, assists with the basic needs of selected students (may include feeding, toileting, wiping noses, etc.).
- Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding students and the program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Dexterity to write on a board, operate a computer, and use other classroom technology.
- Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Clear speech and hearing abilities for effective communication.
- Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work out-put of students.
