QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Mathematics, or related area required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Certification
Valid Georgia teaching certificate
Experience:
Minimum of three years successful elementary classroom teaching experience required in mathematics; three years supervisory experience preferred; prior experience with standards-based instruction, development of mathematics curriculum, and professional staff development required.
JOB SUMMARY:
The K-5 Math Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of Academic Achievement in the development and implementation of e?ective standards-based math instruction in all elementary schools, appropriate and balanced assessment, technology integration, and standards-based grading, and reporting.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Collaborates with the 6-12 Math Coordinator to ensure consistent implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology district wide.
- Leads the development, management, and implementation of K-5 math programming and initiatives, including Advanced Content Math in grades 3-5.
- Oversees the enhancement of math curriculum and supports teachers and administrators in its maintenance and
- Promotes effective instructional practices through research-based strategies, consultation, and program evaluation.
- Assists administrators and instructional coaches in improving math instruction by providing training, resources, conducting classroom observational walks, and delivering actionable feedback.
- Develops tools to support differentiation and meet diverse student needs.
- Collaborates with departments (e.g., ESOL, Special Education, MTSS) and instructional coaches to enhance teacher effectiveness and optimize curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology use in K-5 math.
- Assists schools in determining the level of implementation of standards-based instructional best practices and standards-based assessment and grading.
- Coordinates the development of prioritized standards and proficiency scales and the alignment of assessment and instructional resources for K-5 math.
- Assumes responsibility for communicating and coordinating Grades K-2 standards-based grading in implementation and support.
- Provides ad hoc reports analyzing data from state and district benchmark assessments, evaluates the status of standards-based instruction and progress reporting, and develops recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborates with Academic Achievement leadership to develop, revise, integrate, and implement new curriculum and programs, providing oversight, support, and recommendations.
